If you’ve ever been to a wine tasting, you know how awkward it can be to ask questions when you’re too busy reveling in the wonderful taste of your wonderful red wine.
So here, Montemaggio answers some questions that we’ve been asked, so that you can be well-educated about what goes into your glass.
Most Asked Questions (According to Us)
Which is the Perfect Christmas Wine?
Although we’ve already written at length about this, let’s just give you the gist of it.
Red wine is usually an ideal choice for Christmas. But make sure that any food you serve with it complements the taste. Remember, the leaner the meat, the lighter the wine. So for example, if you serve lamb, a light and delicate wine would work well. But if you’re serving prime ribs, the Chianti Classico or the Chianti Classico Riserva would be the ideal choice since each has a bold taste.
Should I Decant?
Decantation is the process of allowing the wine to be exposed to oxygen so the flavor is softened and centered.
However, not all wines can be decanted. If you want to decant a wine simply for the heck of it, you may cause it to lose some flavor. Of course, if you want to separate the sediment, that’s a different matter entirely.
Which Wines Should I Serve at a Gathering?
For a white, we recommend a crisp Chardonnay that gives offers a buttery note, full of aromas of tropical fruits and flowers. Since this wine can easily be consumed as an aperitif, you won’t have to worry about it overwhelming your palette.
For the red, go for one which is most popular. We recommend our Chianti Classico since it is widely enjoyed for its balance of flavor.
Where is the Best Wine coming from these Days?
Although wine production has become quite widespread, more people are now moving towards original sources for their wine fix, which in this case is Italy. Since Italian winemakers are greatly improving their process of making wine, wine connoisseurs are seeking the original Italian red, rather than any bottle which they may be able to buy from a store.
I Like [Insert Brand Name] Wine; What Do You Think?
Quite honestly, it doesn’t matter which wine you like. As winemakers, we understand and share this passion.
Don’t let anyone tell you which wine you should like and which you shouldn’t. So instead of asking us about the wines we like; ask us this: I like this certain wine, do you have anything that would present me with a similar or even better flavor? This question will allow you explore your palette more.
Now, these are just some of the questions that we are frequently asked. But if you have any more questions, we urge you to drop by the Montemaggio vineyards so that you can meet us and find out even more about your favorite bottle and how it works to improve your palette!
